Church Music Page

Music is an outstanding gift of God and next to theology, I would not want to give up my slight knowledge of music for a great consideration. And youth should be taught this art: for it makes fine, skillful people. (Plass, What Luther Says, p. 979)

Welcome to the Music Department Homepage!  On this page you will read about the importance of music in a church and what happens on a regular basis in our Music Department.  At St. Luke Lutheran Church, we presently have three ensembles that meet on a weekly basis and are open to anyone that has a love for this church, and feels that they can help in their respective way.

Music is a very essential part of worship and is the vehicle in which the very Word of God is spread.  The above statement shows the great importance our Lord puts on music.  Without music, there is a great deal of substance lost, certainly not the substance of the text, but the mood and spirit of the congregation can easily be lost without music.  This is why all people are asked to give what they can to our music program.  Our music department exists here for 3 reasons:

            1.  It is an aid for worshipers

      2.  It is a means of worship

               3.  It provides a mood for worship

Also, another benefit of having these ensembles is for you, the participant.  These ensembles enable you to enjoy Christian Fellowship with other members of our congregation.  This is something that can make a difference in your life, or in the life of someone you may have touched.

I  hope you have enjoyed reading this page.  If you have any questions, please contact Paul Scheiderer (586) 791-1150 or email at pscheiderer@stlukemi.org
